Health and Safety

At JP Glasby Ltd we accept that we have a Moral and Legal duty to ensure the Health, Safety and Welfare of our employees, sub contractors, customers and anyone else affected by our undertakings.

We are committed to comply with all relevant Health and Safety legislation, e.g;-
  • The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974
  • The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
  • The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1999 (as amended 2002)
  • The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002
  • The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006
  • The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007
  • The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005
  • The Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005
  • The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
  • The First Aid at Work Regulations 1981
  • The Workplace (Health, Safety  and Welfare) Regulations 1992
  • Etc.
To this end we have engaged NorthgateArinso Employer Services to advise us on matters relating to Health and Safety.  Our dedicated Health and Safety Advisor, Philip Barker, is a Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (MIIRSM).  In addition to our dedicated advisor we can draw from the wider experiences of the 15 strong team of Health and Safety Advisors within the NorthgateArinso Employer Services which provides a 24 hour advice line.

Our Health and Safety Policy, Procedures and Management has been accredited by the Contractor Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS).

All employees of JP Glasby Ltd receive relevant Health and Safety training, e.g.  International Powered Access Federation (IPAF), Asbestos Awareness and hold either Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) or Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) cards relevant to their trade.  All training is reviewed and refreshed as required.
    
All our Sub-Contractors and Contractors have been through our vetting procedure with respect to Health and Safety and this procedure is repeated annually to ensure ongoing compliance.

Risk Assessments and Method Statements are prepared for all jobs prior to work commencing.  Our Managers make regular site visits to ensure that employees and contractors comply with Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).  In addition, our external Health and Safety Advisors undertake site visits to monitor compliance and provide advise on further improvements.
