Periodic Inspection Reports (PIR)

Are You At Risk?

Electrical hazards are invisible but deadly, causing fires and electrical shocks. These hazards are easily preventable if you use a suitably qualified person to install, inspect and maintain your electrical installation.

Figures released by the Government estimate that each year there are around:
  • 10 fatal and 2,000 non-fatal electric shock accidents in the home
  • 19 fatal and 880 non-fatal shock accidents in the workplace
Cables, switches, socket-outlets and other equipment deteriorate with use and as such they all need to be checked so that potential hazards can be identified and repairs made in good time.

A recent survey found that 59% of people do not use suitable qualified persons when carrying out electrical work and that 42% stated they had never had their electrics checked.

Do I need a Periodic Inspection report (PIR)?

What Can We Do For You?

As an NICEIC approved contractor J P Glasby Ltd have a highly qualified team of electrical inspection and test engineers who can carry out all necessary checks to provide you and your premises with a full Electrical Installation Periodic Inspection Report (PIR) whether it be domestic, commercial or industrial

The report will highlight any areas of the electrical installation that require attention and confirm those areas that are compliant. Some reports can be confusing by the use of technical terms and phrases in order to make a report look good. Our reports have the technical information and are also supplemented with easy to understand information for non electrical trained persons.

Peace of Mind

Insurance companies recognise the importance of a Periodic Inspection Report (PIR) as a contributing factor to a reduction in accidents and fires (see Thermal Imaging), which may in turn result in a reduction of insurance premiums.

A structured maintenance program will be carried out by a suitably qualified person and records kept to further enhance measures to maintain compliance with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. Beware! You should check any existing Inspection and Test program complies with your insurers requirements.
